Plans are afoot to bring an American girl to teach baton twirling to the Comenius Rockettes for a few weeks in June and July.

The girl Miss Rene Stuedemann of Clinton Iowa USA who has won several baton twirling competitions in America will be finishing school later this month and in a letter to the Comenius Rockettes she said that she will be available to come to Guyana from the fourth week in June to the third week in July.

Among Ms. Stuedemann’s achievements in baton twirling are- 1962 Junior National Twirling Champ; 1963- Junior Ms. Majorette of Iowa; 1963- Dixie National Junior Champ ; 1964- Major Booth Award and 1965 Senior National Twirling Champ.

After this Ms. Stuedemann ceased taking part in competitions and switched to judging twirling contests and teaching both privately and at camps and clinics across the U.S.

A spokesperson for the Comenius Rockettes said that they are busy carrying out fundraising activities to help finance Ms. Studemann’s trip and they were hoping that other majorette organizations would join with them in sponsoring the visit, in which case they will be able to participate in the instructions given by Ms. Stuedemann.
