TOP FIVE GRADUATING NGSA PUPILS FROM BELLADRUM PRIMARY; TEACHING STAFF AWARDED FOR GOOD PERFORMANCES

Top five receiving awards presented by Mr Abraham David on behalf of Dr Beverley Gail (Reynolds) David

The top five pupils graduating from Belladrum Primary School West Coast Berbice (WCB)recently received awards from Dr Beverley Gail (Reynolds) David formerly of the village and currently living in the USA.

The occasion was the graduating exercise for sixty five pupils making the transition from primary to secondary school.

The venue was the school auditorium on Friday September 23rd last.

The top five of the sixty five graduates were Amamrah Rashid (508). Devon Sealey (485), Shermiah Booker (478), Royana Tudor(469) and Hernandez Liefde(467).

Four receiving monetary support for their transition to secondary school.

Ms Rashid will attend Queens College while the other four will go to Rosignol Secondary school in Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice).

Dr Beverley Gail (Reynolds) David also provided monetary donations to four of the graduates deemed worthy of support.

The four pupils were recommended by Rev Amsterdam of the local Anglican church

Several overseas based Guyanese mainly from WCB, some of them former pupils as well as several local persons and businesses donated prizes and awards to the graduating pupils thereby enabling the graduation to be a resounding success with pleasant memories for all who participated.

Benefactor, Dr Beverley Gail (Reynolds) David is a strong advocate for education of children who has over the past three years, provided stipends to over 40 students from the Belladrum community as a form of assistance for them in their pursuit of primary and secondary school education

In a further manifestation of support for the school from other former residents of Belladrum and Paradise, Dr. James Reynolds, MD donated monetary awards to the Headmistress and all teaching staff of the primary school on behalf of his siblings and his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Gustavus & Enid Reynolds.

In a note to the Headteacher Ms Savitri Diaram the benefactors noted: “We are honored to present this gift to the teachers of Belladrum Primary School and, particularly to you Savitrie Diaram Graduate Senior Mistress in appreciation of your love, service, and dedication to the children of the community. Generations to come will rise on your shoulders. We pray you remain dedicated.”

The awards to the Headmistress and Staff were presented by Anglican Priest Rev. Amsterdam.

The awards from the Reynolds family and Dr Beverley Gail (Reynolds) David were passed on by Mr Abraham David a resident of Belladrum who is much involved in community work, especially as the local representative of Guyana American Partners, a USA based NGO that provides books and other school supplies annually to five regional schools.
