After an absence of two years due to the roving and deadly Covid 19 pandemic, the highly anticipated Berbice Expo and Trade Fair is back. Organised by the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC), the event is expected to be open on Friday at the Albion Community Centre Ground (ACCG).
The grand event which was first held back in 2004 and held continuously except the two foregoing years will be held from Friday October 14th to Monday October 17. Most of the preparations have been completed with security and other arrangements in place.
The event is expected to be declared open by President Dr. Irfaan Ali is being held under the Theme “Advancing food security through agricultural sustainability and innovation.”
Other Ministers of Government are also expected to be in attendance.
Reports are that the exhibition has been sold out with over 150 exhibits and booths booked to be a part of the activity. A number of the large companies are expected to a part of the activity including the big Beverage Companies, Commercial Banks and manufacturing and sales agencies among others.
A number of new entities have also come on board for the first time.
Music will be supplies by the Crown Vibes Sound Company, Caribbean Hot Shot and Shakti String Bands.
Apart from the exhibitors The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry Of Housing will be taking part in the activity in a major way.
According to newly appointed Divisional Commander Divisional Senior Superintendent Shivpersaud Bacchus the police have been making preparations for the big event and will be up for the challenge. He stated that they will be constant patrols along the Corentyne highway and will be keeping a presence and be on the lookout for any untoward activities.
The police are expected to be supported by a number of Private Security Companies, Community Policing and Neighbourhood Policing Groups in their quest to keep the activity safe and crime free.
The Police and other paramilitary entities are also expected to be manning booths with items on sale at the exhibitions.
Thousands of patrons are expected to throng the event with patrons and exhibitors to come from as far as Suriname, Essequibo, Georgetown, Linden and other areas.
According to the organizers special parking arrangements have been put in place and no firearm will be allowed.
