Wilfred is a world class distinguished economist, philosopher, and public intellectual. He was educated at the University of Oxford (D.Phil.) Doctor of Philosophy, M.A., (Master of Arts) and the University of London, B.A. (honors), University College London School of Economics and Political Science.
Over the past 50 years Dr. David has served in a number of senior university academic and policy advisory positions. For more than 30 years, he was Graduate Professor of Economics and Political Thought at Howard University, Washington DC, USA
Before joining the Howard Faculty, he held professorships at Fisk University (Chairman of the Department of Economics and Management), Vanderbilt University, The University of Delaware, Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, and Plater College, University of Oxford, and University of Guyana.
His other career highlights were Economist/Senior Economist, the World Bank, Washington DC; Consultant, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID); and Economic Advisor, Ministry of Economic Development and Government of Guyana.
His scholarships/awards include Senior Fulbright Research Scholar, UWI, Mona, Jamaica; Economic Policy Fellow, the Brookings Institution, Washington DC; Commonwealth Scholar, University of Oxford; George Web Medley Scholar, University of Oxford; and Middlesex County Council Scholar/Exhibitioner, University of London.
Among his major publications are Economics and the Common Good (forthcoming); The Conversion of Economic Development, Political Economy of Economic Policy, Conflicting Paradigms in the Economics of Developing Nations; The Humanitarian Development Paradigm: Search for Global Justice, and The IMF Policy Paradigm. Wilfred is a regular contributor towards the development of his native village, Bel lad rum.
