GOOD TIDINGS FOR BELLADRUM PRIMARY SCHOOL

Some beneficiaries

Children of Belladrum Primary School in Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice)who will take the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations in May this year have been given an added incentive to work hard.

This incentive is a scholarship of one million dollars that will be handed over to the pupil who gets enough marks to get into one of the top secondary schools when the results are declared.

An awardee

Their benefactor is Supreme Court Judge Justice Brassington Reynolds (Ret’d) .

Justice Reynolds is an alumnus of Belladrum Primary and he made the loudly applauded announcement during the handing over of hampers to ten pupils of the school Thursday.

The venue was the home of Mr Abraham David at Belladrum, Mr David also being an alumnus of the Belladrum Primary school .

The hampers had been donated by Dr Beverley Reynolds another alumnus of Belladrum Primary.

.Dr. Beverley Reynolds resides in the USA.

She is the sister of Justice Brassington Reynolds (Ret’d) and since she could not be in Guyana for the ceremony Justice Reynolds (Ret’d) handed over the hampers to the pupils on her behalf..

Pep Talk

With respect to his million dollar scholarship offer Justice Reynolds (Ret’d) told the small gathering that he would be guided by the Head-teacher and Teachers on the question of whether the scholarship would be given to a lone student or divided up among other notable top performers.

In remarks, he stressed the importance of education and urged the pupils to take up the challenge with vigor and to so qualify to win his scholarship.

Donator of the hampers Dr Beverley Reynolds hailed from neighboring village Paradise, West Coast Berbice also in Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice).

She attended St. Alban’s Anglican/Belladrum Government School and then Bishops’ High School.

She subsequently graduated from the University of Guyana with a B.A. degree in French (major), and Spanish (minor).

She holds a Diploma in French Translation, as well as an M.A. in French from University of British Columbia (Canada).

Vote of Thanks

Her terminal degree is a Doctor of Modern Languages in French.

Dr Beverley Reynolds, an educator for decades, has been a strong advocate for education of children and has regularly provided stipends hampers and other forms of material support towards this end to children in her home village and neighboring villages in recent years, the Thursday donations being the first for 2024.
